"AI is coming for your job!"
Kind of. Not really. But it could.
I like to equate this to a NASCAR tire changer. Those are the people using the pneumatic machines to quickly remove bolts and secure new bolts in place so their driver can get back on the course safely, efficiently, and is a big part of a winning team.
AI is like a pneumatic machine. Yes, the NASCAR tire changer can do their job with a socket wrench but it probably isn't going to end up well.
If I had a NASCAR team, I'm going to hire the person who knows how to handle a pneumatic machine. As a business owner, I'm definitely hiring professionals who know how to use AI to make my business more efficient and profitable.
I want to invite you to join me next Wednesday, September 24th. I'm doing a virtual event for SMPS Southeast Louisiana chapter. I'm going to be talking about AI and it seems like everyone talks about AI, right?
The session's called "AI Stole My Marketing Job ... and Made Me Better at It".
We're going to go over several different ways to use AI as a marketing, business development, and project pursuit specialist in the AEC industry.
I want to bring up a conversation I had recently at a conference and, and someone was asking me about what I thought about AI in the workforce and if you do have the potential of losing your job to AI.
What I want to really call out here, those that are going to get "replaced" by AI are going to be the seasoned and experienced professionals that don't want to learn about AI. Because your entry level, new team members coming in feel very comfortable with this platform and with all the different tools out there.
They have mastered tips and tricks and, and shortcuts. But if you are not training yourself and using AI in a way to make your life easier, to make your career better, to make that project pursuit that you're currently working on a little bit less headachey, then you do have the potential of losing out on a promotion or even switching to a different job maybe if you don't have that AI background.
So come to my webinar next week. I'm going to share some tips and tricks there, but also I encourage you to start looking at AI as a tool and less of "the robots are coming after your job". Really focus on how you can use it to make your career, make your role within the company more efficient, stronger, more tech savvy.
Because the next person coming in already has those tools and already has that skillset. They may not have your experience or your knowledge about the industry or your company, but they're going to get caught up pretty quick and they already have more tools in their tool belt if you're not currently using AI.
