So you want to get a robust marketing tech stack and not sure where to start.
First, don't rush into a "robust" tech stack.
That's like buying a Ferrari for a 16-year-old. A lot of money behind a powerful machine when a Honda Civic will get the job done just as well.
Second, think about what your business really needs.
I recommend three tools to start your marketing team on the right track: a CRM, an email marketing platform, and a project management tool.
It is very easy for companies to overspend on a technology platform, and whenever I start to think about the marketing tech stack that marketing departments should have to help grow their business and be very efficient in how they do marketing, there's actually three technologies that I would recommend.
One, should be universal, is a CRM platform. It is not just for your marketing department, it's for your sales department, it's for the departments that are doing projects, and interacting clients. A CRM is necessary to help grow your business.
The second tech tool for a marketing department is an email marketing platform. Hopefully your CRM and an email marketing platform are integrated or can be integrated, but having that email marketing platform is going to help do a lot of great campaigns and get communication out to the masses instead of just trying to do one-off emails every once in a while.
The third technology platform I highly recommend is a project management platform. Whether that is a monday.com, Microsoft Planner, Trello, Airtable, whatever it may be. I highly recommend using a project management tool to help track what you're doing in marketing. It also is gonna help you track the ROI spend across your department, and it's going to help communicate where you're at with marketing projects and setting expectations with other business leaders.
Having those three things, a CRM, an email marketing platform, and a project management platform is going to help grow your business and help streamline your marketing department.
