"What do you want to know about marketing?"
This is a simple question that can open big doors. It is the start of dialogue with firm leadership who has plenty of questions.
Some of their questions are about marketing at their company.
Give your leadership team members a safe space to ask questions.
And don't ask this question once. Keep asking them. Allow them to come to you with curiosity.
Because it will lead them to being an advocate for a major part of the business.
I want you to be more engaged with your leadership team at your company, and one of the ways that you can do that is by asking them what's something that they want to know about marketing at the firm. It seems like such a simple question, but a lot of times as a marketing or a BD professional, we may assume that the leadership already knows what happens in our roles or how the industry is adapting and changing to marketing and BD efforts.
Simply asking them "what would you like to know about marketing and business development?" may give them an open door and opportunity to have bigger conversations with you as a marketing and business development professional to go deeper and further with a conversation to make sure that what you do at the company is aligned with long-term growth.
